I wrote to Old town customer service and this is the reply I get.

A very happy day to you.

We would like to bring to your kind attention and clarify the HALAL status enquiry that you have brought up.

OLDTOWN White Coffee F&B outlets have gained HALAL certification where the appointed F&B manufacturers adhered to strict cleanliness and quality controls.

We have engaged with IFRCA (Islamic Food Research Centre Asia) for the HALAL endorsement services where they strictly follow the standards set out under the ISO 1500-2004 and the Shariah Law. It’s deemed legal and acknowledged by Kementerian Perdagangan Dalam Negeri (KPDN), as they are the enforcement group. Rest assured all our products contain HALAL ingredients and certified by IFRCA.

Isn't it strange that a staff from Islamic Food Research Centre Asia is using a Yahoo email address for correspondence?

I found it strange too but the email I send earlier is directly from the email address I got from http://www.halalfoodasia.org/ so the email couldn't be send to someone else unless the web site is fake.

Mr Abdullah Fahim just replied this to me:

Dear Afif Rais.

When we certify Oldtown White Coffee, there is no Nissin there. They already changed it to Mi Myojo, that is certified halal by MUIS. For the certificate, please contact Oldtown itself.

Hi. Thanx for dropping by my site dan share info ttg OTWC ni. It's a relief membaca that the outlets dah mendapat the HALAL certification. However, memandangkan I did eat kat OTWC ni since it was first opened, I masih lagi la rasa queasy about the whole thing. Terima kasih banyak2 kerana berkongsi pengetahuan. Have a nice day ya!
